the Dallas Metroplex
We have an excellent success rate at providing chiropractic care for auto injury patients at ChiroCare of Frisco. Texas is known for rainy days that cause slick roads, limited visibility and all-around treacherous driving conditions. The National Safety Council reports that annually there is a disabling injury happens every 14 seconds!
If you, someone in your family, or a friend gets involved in a car accident, call Dr. George Hoogeveen immediately. Virtually every auto accident causes neck or lower back injury. You might not feel pain or discomfort immediately, but don't underestimate the severity of your injury. Smaller joints and muscles often don't react immediately, but pain or stiffness can develop weeks later.
When your spine goes up against tens of thousands of
pounds of vehicle force, it can't help receiving severe trauma, even with low-speed fender benders.
Watch for these symptoms:
• headaches
• neck pain
• lower back pain
• dizziness or nausea
• arm or shoulder
numbness or pain
Having seen thousands of patients suffering from a car accident, Dr. George has experience treating whiplash. "Your seat belt is your best lifesaving protection," he advises. "The important thing to know is that the head and neck of the injured person is accelerated 3 to 5 times faster than the acceleration of the car. This sudden change in speed (about 1/10 of second) produces the damage to the structures (muscles, nerves, ligaments, etc.) and causes neck pain and many other symptoms Don't cover up the symptoms with pain pills and muscle relaxants. Let Dr. George help you do something about the cause of your discomfort," states Dr. George.
Whiplash Symptoms
When people think of whiplash they think of neck pain. There are several other symptoms that accompany neck pain, however. There may be headaches, jaw pain, shoulder pain, arm pain, hand pain, numbness and tingling, as well as brain injuries. Brain injuries may show up as memory loss, irritability, insomnia, depression, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), concentration problems, etc. Patients may also have pain in other parts of their bodies other than the neck pain. Lower back pain is also common in car crashes, as are leg injuries from hitting the dash board or other structures in the car.
